Lieutenant Commander Oliver Brown was diagnosed with HIV in October 2019 after a bike accident, resulting in a visit to a Chelsea & Westminster Hospital who were piloting opt-out HIV tests in its A&E department. This led to him being medically downgraded by the Navy in accordance with policy, despite no medical reason for this.
